It’s difficult for many people to remember a time when there was such acute division, doubt and mistrust in the land as there is now. Where can we turn for relief and hope in tumultuous times? Simon Widdop is a punk poet with an answer. His collection of poems is an intense scream for love, kinship and the destruction of grimness in exchange for grins.
Sending A Drunk Text Whilst Sober is a collection of poems from the Zero Hour Age. Here are tales of living, working and loving in modern Britain. Here you are encouraged to see beyond bank balances, birthplaces and bad circumstances. Here is a middle finger to division.
Simon has been published in print in the New River Press Yearbook 2017/18, Paper And Ink Zine, Glove Zine, Nymphs & Thugs Soapbox and We Shall Overcome: The Anthology, as well as online at DryLandLit Press, Esoterica Magazine and Wildsound Festival. He is curating the spoken word events at Long Division 2018, an arts and culture festival in Wakefield. Sending A Drunk Text Whilst Sober is his first full collection of poetry, published by Plastic Brain Press.
